{"id":930,"date":"2013-08-21T17:19:14","date_gmt":"2013-08-21T17:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rbwood.com\/dir\/index.php\/2013\/08\/21\/atoz\/"},"modified":"2013-08-21T17:19:14","modified_gmt":"2013-08-21T17:19:14","slug":"atoz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rbwood.com\/dir\/atoz\/","title":{"rendered":"An Author Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #00ff00; font-size: 12pt;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-929\" src=\"http:\/\/rbwood.com\/dir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Books.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" alt=\"Books\" style=\"margin: 5px; float: right;\" title=\"\">If you are looking for the latest WORD COUNT PODCAST click <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=431:twcep33&amp;catid=40&amp;Itemid=63\">HERE<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">I was recently trolling on fellow author\/friend sites and came across an Author\u2019s Survey of sorts over at <b><a href=\"http:\/\/alexkimmell.weebly.com\/2\/post\/2013\/08\/author-survey.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex&nbsp; Kimmell\u2019s<\/a><\/b> site.&nbsp;A survey which he in turn had swiped from <b><a href=\"http:\/\/thetsuruokafiles.wordpress.com\/2013\/08\/19\/a-z-book-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeff Tsuruoka <\/a><\/b>\u2018s blog so I figure swiping is a good thing in this instance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">At least that\u2019s how I sold it to myself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Once I get around to redesigning my site, I\u2019ll add a section for these marvelous writer blogs o follow religiously.&nbsp; But until then, here is the survey with my own answers from \u2018A\u2019 to \u2018Z.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Enjoy!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Author(s) You&#8217;ve Read the Most Books Of:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler on the \u2018adventure\u2019 side of the house.&nbsp; Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher and Anne Rice in the \u2018Dark Fantasy\u2019 corner.&nbsp; In the creepy attic called horror, Stephen King and (continuing the metaphor) in the high-tech kitchen of Sci FI, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov and H.G. Wells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Best Sequel Ever:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">2061 from Arthur C. Clarke just made me a happy camper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Currently Reading:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>Twisted Vengeance: A Supernatural Thriller<\/i> by Jeff Bennington and a book I won\u2019t mention as it has to do with research for a future installment of my series.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Drink of Choice While Reading:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">During the morning, coffee.&nbsp; In the afternoon, tea.&nbsp; In the evening\/night either ale or Jack Daniel\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">E-Reader or Physical Book:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">I read using my Kindle app for my iPad mini most of the time.&nbsp; When I can curl up with a physical book, I will.&nbsp; But I find the portable library concept highly convenient as my wife and I own a very small house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Glad You Gave This Book a Chance:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo<\/i> \u2013 All three books in the series are marvelous.&nbsp; Too bad Larsson died too soon\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hidden Gem Book:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>The Evan Gabriel Trilogy<\/i> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steveumstead.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Umstead<\/a>.&nbsp; I know the question stated \u2018book\u2019 meaning singular, but I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and I probably would never had picked it up had I not made the authors acquaintance a couple years ago.&nbsp; He\u2019s a good man, and his writing is superb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Important Moment in Your Reading Life:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Finishing the seventh book in the Harry Potter series and asking myself \u201cMuggles can\u2019t really be THAT stupid, can they?\u201d It\u2019s where <i>The Arcana Chronicles<\/i> were born.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Just Finished:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>Godspeed<\/i> by <a href=\"http:\/\/februarywriter.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February Grace<\/a> and <i>Inferno<\/i> by Dan Brown<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Kind of Books You Won&#8217;t Read:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">There is nothing I won\u2019t try once.&nbsp; Twice, if I like it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Longest Book You&#8217;ve Ever Read:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>War and Remembrance<\/i> by Herman Wouk<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Major Book Hangover Because Of:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i> <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>IT <\/i>by Stephen King.&nbsp; Mr. King, I love you to pieces but you scare the living crap out of me sometimes.&nbsp; Well done, sir.<i>&nbsp;<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Number of Bookcases You Own:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Seven, and they are all triple filled.&nbsp; Thus my acceptance of the iPad\/Kindle combo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">One Book You&#8217;ve Read Multiple Times:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><i>War of the Worlds<b> <\/b><\/i>by H.
