All about <strong>Second Chances.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before we introduce our cadre of writers and their most excellent tales of wonder, a bit about the show:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>What is The Word Count Podcast?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is a free broadcast by writers for writers. Simply put, a theme for each show is announced via this site, Twitter and Facebook and writers are given a week or two to write AND RECORD their stories based on said theme.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Why?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Why not, says I. It\u2019s a great way to practice writing and public speaking. It\u2019s another way for writers to get their work \u201cout there.\u201d And I love to meet fellow authors and have a blast putting the show together. It\u2019s just that simple.<\/p>\n<p><em>Okay. Oh, I\u2019m going to write a book. I was just wandering if I\u00a0could get your opinion. You see, there are two clear choices and I can&#8217;t\u00a0choose between them.<\/p>\n<p>The first ones called, \u201c<em>Pictures of Cats in Hats<\/em>\u201d, there are no pictures\u00a0though. Actually there are no cats either. It&#8217;s really about Hedge pigs you\u00a0see. I just love their demented little grins.<\/p>\n<p>The second book is called, \u201c<em>Fun with Gnomes<\/em>\u201d and it can go one of two ways.\u00a0Either it&#8217;s a seriously dark erotic crime thriller were the main\u00a0protagonist is an albino gnome called Sven chasing after the elusive\u00a0*I*nternational *K*nights of the *E*litist *A*lliance or, it&#8217;s a joke book for kids where\u00a0the punchline for every joke is essentially the same. For example, why did\u00a0the kitten cross the road? Doesn\u2019t matter now its heads been knocked clean\u00a0off its body. Its neck hole is spurting blood for fuck sake. Or, why did\u00a0Jeremy Fish cross the road? Who cares dumbass, its ass blew out and its\u00a0gills followed after that bus squished the shit out of it. There\u2019s also\u00a0jokes about grannies too, same answers though. I\u2019m aiming for pre-schoolers\u00a0I think.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, just let Richard know your thoughts and remember, &lt;insert bland\u00a0statement here&gt; <strong>HOSTS NOTE: No. \u00a0Don&#8217;t let me know your thoughts. He then read\u00a0Theology and Religious\u00a0Studies at Cambridge University, where he begun to develop an idea of <em>Imaginal Theology<\/em> \u2013that in order to speak meaningfully of what is otherwise beyond our epistemology, we must use our imaginal faculty. This will be the focus of his forthcoming doctoral research on philosophical\/theological method.<\/p>\n<p>Upon graduation, Tristan trained as a Secondary School teacher, teaching English, Music and RS in schools and colleges around Kent. He\u2019s written stage and radio plays, short stories, novels, skits and songs for revues, and five non-fiction books aimed at helping students with their writing and study skills. His five modern crime novels,\u00a0<em>Material Evidence, Rough Justice, The Darkness, Shadow Selves <\/em>and\u00a0<em>Unsafe Acts<\/em>\u00a0are set in north east Scotland and his historical crime\/romance novel,\u00a0<em>The Figurehead<\/em>, is set in Aberdeen in 1840.\u00a0<em>The Darkness<\/em>\u00a0won the silver award in the mystery category of the 2011 Forward National Literature Awards and his spoof mystery,\u00a0<em>The Sparrow Conundrum<\/em>, was the winner in the humor category.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s published a novel for children called\u00a0<em>The Loch Ewe Mystery<\/em>, and his latest publication is a satirical novella about online gaming and the real and virtual worlds.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s had radio plays broadcast by the BBC and the Australian BC.\u00a0 His short stories have appeared in many anthologies, including three of the CWA\u2019s annual collections, and one was chosen by Maxim Jakubowski for his 2010 anthology of\u00a0<em>Best British Crime Stories<\/em>.
