This month I’m doing something that I haven’t done in a few years. I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo for short.
Simply put, thousands of authors around the world will be spending the month putting together a 50,000 word (or more) first draft of a novel. My personal goal is to write 2,000 words a day or have 60k done by the end of the month.
There are loads of writer friends doing it this year and I’m hoping we will be inspiring each other to work away on our first drafts. For years I’ve been struggling with book two of my Arcana Chronicles series and I realized that the story was off and, quite frankly, not of interest for me. I plan on mixing some of the ides from my still born book 2 with the ideas I had for book three (The Lost Empress) to create something I’ve been excited about since I started working on the new outline back in October. Here is the new blurb I’ve worked up:
Fame is a deadly mistress.
Symon Bryson has rejoined his magic practitioner friends, only to find himself in virtual lockdown after multiple assassination attempts from unknown assailants.
While members of his team are searching for the Morningstar, Symon is asked to deal with a strange request from his shady past leading him on a collision course with a crime lord known only as “The Empress.”
When all that stands between Heaven and Hell is magic, more than faith will be tested.
I’ll be blogging quite a bit during the month so check back on progress and–as always–comments are welcome. Wish me luck! And here is the most-excellent cover designed by Kip Ayers:
